WOODWORK

MOROCCAN PAINTED WOOD

Both carved and painted wood share the same techniques of carving and painting. In the first phase, designing a motif for the project and applying it with a stencil directly onto the wood is crucial. The carver or painter then starts producing the ornamentation using a hammer and metallic tools for carving and brushes for painting. This technique of carving and painting can be applied to all kinds of motifs, including calligraphy, geometry, or floral arabesques. The process of designing muqarnas is similar to that of plasterwork.

MOROCCAN CARVED WOOD

All phases of production of arabesque carved and painted wood are conducted in our workshops in Fez, unlike with plaster. The final installation occurs at the job site. For small projects outside Morocco, the general contractor may assemble and install our products using their team of carpenters. However, for larger projects involving the installation of ceilings and domes, we provide our skilled craftsmen to complete the installations.
